How To
Write An eBook
If you
were to ask any internet marketing expert,
"What's the best way
to make money online", the most common response would be
to write your own ebook or information product. It's
what I've done and it's earned me the online income I've come
to depend on.
Writing
an ebook is something you do once that generates income
virtually forever. This internet opportunity
has so much
potential, yet so many people shy away from it,
which sort of puzzles me. Yes, it takes some up front
work, but the outcome is so profitable.
So how do you get started writing an
ebook that makes money?
You start
with finding something that people want to know. This can
be something you are personally familiar with or it can be
something that simply interests you. For example,
do you have knowledge or experience on a
specific subject?
Think
about it, everyone has talents, abilities and information that
others would love to know about - even pay
for. People don't want
to spend hours and days researching something. If you can
give them what they need in a concise, easy to understand
manner with a few tips and strategies that they won't
find everywhere, you'll be a hit!
Here are
some things to start thinking about...
• What information are people looking for?
• Are they are willing to spend money on that information?
• Are you personally, or at least moderately,
interested and knowledgeable about this topic.
These are also some of the most
profitable ebook topics that current ebook writers are
making fortunes with...
• Weight Loss and Dieting
• Health (or fixing health problems)
• Fitness and Exercise (lifting things that are drooping and
tightening things that are sagging)
• Looking good (reversing aging, removing hair, keeping hair,
etc.)
• Relationships (finding then, keeping them, getting over
them)
• Making Money (online or offline, small business, finding
jobs, etc)
• Saving Money
• Parenting problems/concerns
This is by no means an exhaustive list, these are simply
ideas to get you thinking. Passion for a
topic is good but not necessary. If you
don't have much knowledge in a topic that interests
you, please don't let that discourage you. There
are plenty of resources for you to do adequate
research.
One other
point I'd like to bring out is consider topics or subjects
that are green. By green I mean topics
that won't fade from interest with time. For
example, potty training, puppy training, help for insomnia,
dieting or weight loss. These are all things people will
always need help with whether it's tomorrow or 50 years from
now. In other words, choosing something to write about
that is a passing fad may have it's hay day but
it could fade from interest in a few
years
Do your ebook
Research
At first
it helps to start jotting down things that you already know
about your topic of interest but don't limit your research
to just that. Use a good keyword research tool like
Wordtracker
or Google's free keyword
research tool to help you expand your
research. Doing keyword research on the topic of
weight loss for example, turns up things like
weight
loss tips, weight loss pills, weight loss foods, natural
weight loss, etc. These are the things
that you will want to include in an ebook
about losing weight because these are the things people
enter into the search engines, these are the very things
people are looking for when it comes to weight loss and
this type of research will be extremely
important for whatever your topic.
Creating Your
eBook
There are
a number of ebook software products for creating your
ebook. Things like PDF creators, ecovers, and nifty
graphics creators.
The most
common and preferred format for compiling your ebook is using a
PDF file. There are a number of ways to create your PDF,
however depending on the software you use the features vary
quite a bit. The best way I've found to create a PDF for
free is by using OpenOffice.org. The software is
outstanding, simply create your ebook document
with their editing software and with a one button
click you can create a PDF ebook or guide from your
document.
Deciding on your eBook
Price
Your
books price point will need careful consideration. Don't
ever base the cost of your book by how big or small it
is. It's the content that matters. How well
researched your book is and the amount of
meaty
information is what
brings value to your book.
Have a
friend or colleague review your book and offer feedback on what
they would pay for the material. I'd recommend having a
few people review it. You'll not only get a good feel for
how much to charge, you're also likely to get some great
feedback for content and improvement.
Putting it all together for ebook
sales
There's
not enough good things I can say about being an ebook author
and once you have an eBook to your name, very
good things begin to happen. things like:
- Extremely High Profit
Margins meaning financial independence
- No Delivery Cost - No Printing Or
Postage needed
- You
Can Operate it Virtually Anywhere In The
World
- Prestige And Recognition as an
author
- Passive Income Stream
- Less
Than A Week's Work
Of course
since I make money writing ebooks I'm a little biased on
making money this way and I encourage others to try their hand
at this amazing business opportunity as well, but before
you do, let me first suggest taking a look at Jimmy D. Brown's
