Building An Email List
Email is not dead. Just about every business can benefit from building an email
list.
Here's why your email list is a powerful Business Asset.
- It Establishes you as an authority by sharing useful, intelligent information about the product or
service you offer.
- Email keeps your business in your prospects minds. That means when they are ready to buy,
they'll think of you first.
- It creates a convenient communication link to your audience as just a simple 'click to reply' is all your
readers need to make a comment or ask a question.
- You can easily track your reader's interests by checking what email messages get opened and how often.
That's key to knowing what your customers want and are looking for.
The benefits extend across your business because you can have a list for current customers and also a list for
potential customers, which allows you to customize each email list that you have.
How NOT to Ask for an Email Address
People don't typically jump at the chance to hand over their email address. People have enough email to sort
through, they don't need even more. So most people are hesitant to give up their email address unless they
can be sure that what they are getting in exchange is worthwhile.
Having said that, just asking for someone's email address isn't going to help you build your list very
fast, if at all. You may on occasion get a taker, but that will be rare.
If you want to build an email list, you’ve got to give people a compelling reason to give it to you.
The Right Way to Collect Email Addresses
The most effective way to get an individual to offer up their email address is to give them something in
exchange for it.
It's the old adage, "What's in it for me".
They want to know they'll be getting something of interest or value. So to get the sign-up you'll
need to be able to offer your subscriber something useful, free and something that can be instantly
accessed.
What You Can Give in Exchange for your Readers Email address?
- A handy, useful Tips Guide

- Free coupons or first time buyer discounts.
- An exclusive audio or video recording
- Here's a favorite of mine. Create a series of questions that guides your prospect through the
decision-making process for making a purchase.
