It can be a challenge to come up with creative blog post ideas. I’ve found it’s a lot easier to get creative with your posts if you simply take a look at what you already know and do.
For example, in relation to your blog, think about the things you have read, the places you have gone, the people you have talked to, the ideas or tips you’ve picked up.
Once you really begin to think about these things it’s a lot easier to come up with interesting easy to write blog posts.
Here are 8 ideas that help me write blog posts that attract visitors, spark comments and keep readers coming back.
Idea 1 – The ‘QUICK TIPS’ Blog Post
Quick tips are great “in between” posts. They are short and normally between 100 and 250 words. Post ideas that you want to share with your readers. These don’t have to be huge blog posts, posting quick tips works too. Keep the tips focused on one key area of your niche. For example, “How to eat less when eating out” is a perfect ‘quick tip’ for a dieting blog.
Idea 2 – The ‘HOW TO’ Blog Post
Expanding on the quick tips blog post, let’s look at the ‘how to’ posts. These offer more expanded, detailed information to your readers on how to do specific things related to your niche such as step-by-step instructions or specific examples. You could even separate these posts into a two or three part course.
For ideas on ‘how to’ posts, have a look at niche topic forums or other related blogs for questions that others are asking on how to do specific things. Well written, detailed ‘how to’ posts are fairly popular and they draw in lots of readers.
Idea 3 – The ‘REVIEW’ Blog Post
Product or service reviews are especially useful to readers because it helps them with the decision buying process but it’s also a great way to monetize your blog. Affiliate marketers in particular write lots of product reviews.
I recommend writing reviews on products or services that you use. Posting reviews that other people write isn’t as compelling. I encourage you to learn how to write a product reviewthat helps you help your reader make an informed purchase. Give them the information they need on how the product will benefit them and help them know if the product will meet their expectations.
Idea 4 – The ‘RESOURCE’ Blog Post
Blog readers love resource lists because they can easily scan the information and focus on what they are most interested in reading.
For example, let’s say you’re writing a post on the ’10 ways to lose weight fast’. A resource list would mention the posts from other related blogs that also have this information. This gives your reader a much broader view of ideas and tips available to them.
You may even find that readers will look to you as a useful resource for finding as much well-rounded information as possible on the topic at hand.
Idea 5 – The ‘INTERVIEW’ Blog Post
People love interviews, especially if it’s with someone they like and admire. Try interviewing someone in your niche and sharing the results of the interview with your blog readers. This is also a powerful traffic generator as the person you interview will most likely post the interview on their blog and around the web, bringing more traffic back to you!
Idea 6 – The ‘BEST OF’ Blog Post
This is one of my favorites and it’s fairly easy to do. This is a summary or ‘best of’ post. I like it because all the work has already been done; all you need to do is gather the information for the post. It makes for a great year end post.
Here’s an example, if you do a lot of reading, you might list the ‘best of’ articles, books or guides that you read during the past year. If you’ve done book reviews you could reference them in the post. Or try this; create a post highlighting your most popular blog posts of the year or the posts that accumulated the most comments.
Whatever your niche, have a look back at the items, events or ideas that were the year’s best and create a post around them. It’s great for bringing new life to some of your older posts.
Idea 7 – The ‘PERSONAL STORY’ Blog Post
Everyone loves a personal story. Anyone that follows you or your blog would be interested in a personal event or happening related to your niche. Did you attend a seminar? Did you buy a new product? Did you have a mishap that could be made an example of? Without getting too personal or overly detailed, writing a blog post on your personal achievements or activities almost always draws interest and feedback.
Idea 8 – The ‘NEWS’ Blog Post
Every niche has some news related items or events. Each day I try to block out about 15-20 minutes to check out what’s going on in my niche. Then I look for a newsworthy item that I can reference and follow with my own personal comments. This is not only an easy to create quick post; it will get readers commenting.
