If you have a blog, especially for business purposes, consider updating it daily. Now that may seem like something that's hard to commit to but it really isn't if you work up a schedule. All it really takes is some up front time once a week or so.
For example…
I take about an hour a week and consult my list of topics that I like to write about. Then I compose 5 or 6 posts of interest. If my schedule is hectic that week I simply outsource it to an article writer Once they are edited I shoot them off to my blog using the 'post timestamp' feature. I can timestamp each entry to post on the date and time I select. So for about an hour or so of work I can have a week's worth of posts set up for automation.
The idea is to be consistent with your posting. I like to think of it as training the search engines. If they become use to seeing new, fresh content from you, you'll receive robot visits on a regular basis, but more importantly your readers will also come to expect it and you don't want to risk losing readers by letting your blog go stale.
Of course it won't be catastrophic to update weekly or even monthly, the key is to work up a schedule and update on a regular consistent basis.
