If you're looking for extra traffic and maybe a little profit on the side, don't underestimate the power of Squidoo.
It's totally free to use but an excellent site for generating targeted traffic to your site. In fact it's turning out to be one of the best traffic resources I've found recently.
To use Squidoo you create what they call lenses, these lenses are like mini websites that allow you to add content quicker and easier than just about any other tool. You can build more than 1000 lenses if you want to, actually the more, the better.
Due to the way Squidoo structures and encourages good content, Google and other top search engines love it, that means that your lenses have an excellent chance to rank well in the search engines while sending lots of link love to your website as well.
That happens because Squidoo is very flexible with including links to your website, unlike WordPress.com or Hubpages.com.
To use Squidoo means you'll be crafting your lenses or content pages around your main topic. There are of course lots of themes that you can choose from, themes like:
- Books
- Humor
- home and garden
- religion and spirituality
- work at home
- Green living
- pop culture
… and more
The most awesome thing about Squidoo pages or lenses is that they are getting high placement in search engines for most keywords. That alone makes it worth getting to know your way around how to use it and build content with it.
If you manage Squidoo lenses as you would a blog and keep the pages updated, there's not doubt you'll be generating lots of visitors.
You can also profit directly from your Squidoo lenses. Squidoo lets you earn royalties from the traffic and clicks to your Squidoo lenses because there are Google Adwords on your Squidoo pages. If you want to you can also add Amazon, Netflix, Ebay and CafePress modules.
When you make your lenses, add as many keywords (tags) as you can that are related to your topic to bring in more traffic. To get even more targeted traffic to your lenses and your website, take the time to join some of the groups within Squidoo.
There's more than meets the eye when it comes to social marketing on Squidoo. in fact it's a powerhouse of free traffic and links for your website.

I have built a few lenses. I agree that it’s easy to get them decent rankings very quickly. Also, they’re good for SEO for my other sites.
Along the way, I’ve made a few bucks in royalties but nothing serious. But overall, I still think it’s been worth the time investment.
