If you use email as a marketing strategy, you're emails are probably getting read by only a fraction of those on your list and that can be a pretty dismal statistic.
One of the best things you can do to get your email messages read is to “brand” your mailings so they stand out from other messages that arrive in your subscribers’ inboxes. All it really takes is developing a consistent 'From' identification and a 1-2 word 'Subject' tagline that is included in every mailing you send to your list. This identifies your messages as being from YOU.
Of course, this is based on the fact that if you offer valuable content and recommendations to your list, and you should be
then your subscribers will learn to LOOK for your messages by looking for your “brand.”
Here's a great example -whenever I get emails that read 'ProfitPullers' in the subject line, I know it's from Jimmy D. Brown and I always read them immediately because I know Jimmy goes above and beyond offering value. I’ve been reading his tips and strategies it seems forever, but that's because I equate his brand with 'value' and even though I get about 200-500 email messages a day I still read Jimmy's – that's powerful stuff!
You need to be doing the same thing. Brand your email messages so that people recognize you and what you're all about. People read all day, they get lots of email and I don't know anyone that reads it all, time is too valuable. So your job is to ensure your email subscribers don't lose interest in you. Value + Branding = Emails that get opened and read.
Branding Your Email Delivery
There are two ways to “brand” your messages for delivering them to your opt-in subscribers:
1. Brand your “From” listing. “Brand” your email messages by using the same “From” listing in each mailing. For example:
From: John Jones
From: Super Marketer
From: Awesome Affiliate
From: Molly Marketer
The idea is pretty basic, each email that you send out to a specific list would always come “From” the same origin, whether it is the name of a person, a newsletter, an eCourse, a list or whatever you choose to use.
2. Brand your “Subject line. Also “brand” your mailings is to use a consistent word or phrase in your “subject line” Again, here are some examples:
Subject: [Affiliate Gazette]
Subject: [Affiliate Tips]
Subject: [Marketing Course]
Subject: [Hot Tips]
I like to put brackets around the subject line 'brand' and then follow it with a 'catchy' subject.
When finished your email might look something like this:
From: John Jones
Subject: [Affiliate Gazette] My Top Traffic Generator
The idea here is to create consistent wording for your mailings so folks can quickly and easily identify a message that comes from YOU. It builds your brand but it also identifies you and helps create a personal connection with your readers.
This is the kind of branding that anyone can do with any email list that they build. It shows consistency, and if your readers like your information they will be able to easily recognize you because your emails stand out among the rest, meaning they'll get read
