Return to Love – Marianne Williamson

I read A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson, several years ago and absolutely loved it.  I think this may have even been one of Oprah's book club books, which may be where I originally heard about Marianne, but she was so inspiring with her simplicity and clarity that I felt compelled to read it, and boy was I glad I did.

Marianne's book 'Return to Love' is based on her reflections of the the principle taught in 'A course in Miracles' which is a self-study program of spiritual psychotherapy.  She breaks down the course to help us understand that focusing on fear instead of love, which is really what we are taught in life from an early age, we set ourselves up for failure.

For example, from the time we are born we are taught to separate ourselves from others, we are taught that we must compete to get ahead and that we're not entirely good enough.  This builds fear, anxiety and loss of self confidence.  These are the things Marianne discusses in A 'Return to Love'. Through her own spiritual awakenings she helps us overcome these obstacles in both life and business.

I found the books so inspiring I've read it several times and each time it gives me greater understanding of how I can realize my own potential and my own self worth. It's the book that actually gave me the courage to start my own business.

If fear is holding you back from gaining your full potential, have a listen to Marianne, it could be the most soothing, relaxing and enlightening three minutes you spend today ;-)

Enjoy!

How Persuasive Are You?

Here's kind of a fun quiz to take from Fortune magazine that I just recently came across.

There are only 12 questions and it will take you less than 10 minutes.  I managed to get 8 correct, yep, persuasive skills are little rusty, but I did find some of the answers to be interesting not to mention surprising.

The quiz is based on research done by persuasion expert Kurt Mortensen so they're probably right on.

Go ahead, take the quiz, it's short and easy but don't be disappointed if you miss a few, just look at it as gaining a little persuasion education.

Happy New Year!

Now that 2008 has come and gone you may be thinking one of 3 things:

What a great year it’s been!”, “2008 could have been a lot better!” or you may even be thinking “2008 was the worst year ever”.

I think for many of us, especially with the economy the way it is, things could have been better.

2008 was an exciting year for me. My daughter got engaged, my business grew, my income doubled and I made some tremendous friends and associates online and I feel privileged that many of you were here throughout the year to share my successes with me.  You’re awesome!

So now it’s time to move on to the New Year and take a good look at how we can improve on 2008.  It’s a time for hope, change and making those New Year’s resolutions.

I’m not a big fan of New Year’s resolutions because I always break them, just like that last 5 pounds I’ve resolved to lose – yep, I make that one every year and every year I break it. Embarassed

But I do have a few things that I work on when it comes to making positive changes, either personally or professionally. These are things that are practical enough to apply to any aspect of your life.

So, by all means keep moving forward with your resolutions but here are a few things that have made a difference in my life and I’m hoping they’ll also make an impact on yours… [Read more...]
