Can You Really Make Money Online?

make money onlineGuest Post by Tauseef Hussain

If you’re a little skeptical as to whether you really can make money online or not don’t worry, you’re not the only one.

There are so many flashy sales pages promising instant riches that it’s hard to believe that there are legitimate options out there. The good news is you can really make money online but you have to be able to spot the good offers amongst the bad.

Here are a few tips on what to look out for to get you on the right road.

Be Realistic

Firstly you should understand that indeed there are Internet marketers out there who are very serious about their business and genuinely want to help others succeed online.

The genuine marketers won’t promise you overnight success or that you can make millions working only a handful of hours a week. That’s not to say you can’t make millions eventually only working part time but at the outset it’s very unlikely.

Offers that make grandiose promises are the ones to stay away from. Instead, keep searching for systems that promise more realistic results.

Just Do It

Although it’s true that to be successful online you need to take a lot of action, don’t fall for this as the only thing standing in the way of you and your next million. It’s common for Internet marketers to go on about action taking, however, there is a lot more to making money online than just being able to take steps forward.

It can be extremely challenging in any business to attract customers and even more so to have those customers actually part with their money for whatever it is you have on offer.  Skills such as social media marketing, search engine optimization, sales copy writing and conversion are just some of the areas you might need to develop to establish a successful business. Sure, you will need to take action but remember that the old ‘just do it’ mantra is not the only thing you need to consider.

Beware of the Blueprint

Many make money online programs are sold as a ‘blueprint’ – a system that purportedly suits everyone. Many times people will buy into these programs and be left to decide on their own what niche market they will focus on. In addition, there is quite a strong movement around the idea of following your passion. The problem is that even though you might be passionate about something, that doesn’t mean you can make good money at it.

There are certain niches that many people know are notoriously difficult to make money at, yet people buying into the make money online programs aren’t aware of what those difficult niches are. If you’re being sold a blueprint you would be well advised to do plenty of due diligence on exactly what it is you’re paying for and what existing skills you need to have to make it work.

Research and Assess

No matter what offers you’re considering buying into to help you make money online, promise yourself that you won’t make your buying decision under time pressure. Time is exactly what you need to properly research and assess whether a program is right for you or not. Take the time to find out whether there is a support forum on offer, whether the program is designed for beginners or advanced and what returns are you likely to see after three months.

With a good deal of due diligence you will be able to find your way through the noise and discover programs and mentors that will really help you make money online and that’s certainly worth putting time and energy into.

  1. Anyone can become successful with making money online but the key to becoming successful at it is to set a plan and be consistent with your efforts. You can’t make any money if you’re not willing to work hard. Great post! Everything mentioned was right on point.

  2. You really outlined the best information that a beginner would need to start making money online. These 10 steps can really make you money as long as you do them consistently. Thanks!

  3. Hey Gerald, The internet looks easy so I think people are more tempted to just jump in without a plan. The unfortunate thing is that they learn by default that it’s really not that easy and without a plan, there’s so much room for error. Thanks for your feedback :-)

Starting an online business will definitely need a plan, just like when you’re starting another business that doesn’t involve the Internet. Well, you can use the Internet for most businesses to get some customers, but you’ll definitely need a plan first before you get things up and running. Just diving in and trying to fix the problems you encounter will cost you a lot more than spending your time on thinking of a plan before actually starting anything.

  5. Hey Leonard, Thank you so much, that means a lot to me and I so appreciate you saying so. You folks are why I get up every morning :-)

I had to smile when you said you started out at 80 cents a week, because I can so relate. That’s generally what a blog or website starts out at but you’re the lucky one because you’ve realized the potential for going bigger and you’re working at it. I think you’ll reach great success if you haven’t already, so keep me posted :-)

  6. I know it is very much possible to make at least pocket-money via the internet, but with more effort, organization, and most importantly the right information, even bigger dreams can come true. I’ve started with just a friendly, amateur relationship with the web, I was happy for earning 80 cents in a week, and then I realized I could go bigger because I saw so many motivating examples around. I think I speak in the name of all your other readers, as well, when I say we are really grateful for your useful tips on how to be a home business owner; I’ve learned a lot from you and similar blogs.
    Best regards,
    Leonard

  7. Yes, it’s really important to prioritize it to get a very successful business. I like this article and by the way, thanks for the tips. 9. Hey John, It’s easy to be attracted to a tempting ‘blueprint’, and don’t get me wrong, there are blueprints that are legitimate, the trouble for many is they want to get set up and be done. Having an internet business or any business for that matter, is about continually marketing. The customers aren’t just going to come to you, you have to reach out to them and show them what you’ve got. It’s an ongoing effort.

  10. I agree, with some good diligence you can find your way through all the noise, flashy sales pages, false promises, and find a program or mentor that really helps you make money online. When I first started trying to make money online I would fall victim to the “Blueprint” a bunch of times until I finally discovered something that worked.

  11. Good common sense. Blueprints are pretty much sales pitches for the gullible. Everything is not going to work out the same for everyone. I appreciate what you said; just get in there and begin. I think if you just start in one area and learn it, you are going to find other areas to spread out into, and eventually, if you don’t give up and don’t expect to be able to support yourself with it in an unreasonable amount of time, you are going to find ways to significantly supply some income. I’ve seen so many begin things and in a month are angry, demanding to know why they are not making their first thousand. You can spend years before you find a way to quit your day job. But if you don’t start now, you will never be able to. Blessings!

  12. Hi Andy, You are right, taking action is the hardest thing for most people, but if you can really put your mind to doing this and take the first steps, the rest does come easier. Thanks for your feedback :-)

  13. Hi Liz

Thanks a lot for this great article about if you can really make money online. Tweeted! There is some really great advice there. I think the keyword research is the most important stage, although I think that just taking action is the hardest thing for most people. But once you get over this most difficult initial stage, everything else starts to become easier.

  14. Hey Mitch, Making money online is kind of interesting. As you say, people with high ranking sites that you would think are making a killing aren’t making that much and vice versa. There are a number of things that have to come together. Trust of your visitors is an important one. The ability to write and promote effectively and then there are the technical aspects of SEO and good website optimization. And today, there’s the added burden of social marketing.

Making money with your own business is a tough road to hoe no matter what you’re doing, but if you have a passion and like what you’re doing, you can really make money online. How much depends on your ambition ;-) Thanks Mitch for your awesome feedback.

  15. that’s the hard part mam. competition is going tight. and u must stand out from the crowd. btw i learn something usefull for my online presence. hope can be succeed like you. thanks

  16. You already know my POV on this and what making money online really means. I always thought that maybe someone with a highly ranked site would have the best opportunity to make money online in the way people think about it, but in the last 2 weeks learned instead that one person I thought was killing it makes less than $3,000 a month and the other person makes nothing right now. I wouldn’t mind making $3,000 a month but that would be supplementing money, not anything I could live on, but this person’s living on that. So, in a way it’s all a game, but it’s also about two other things; one, finding the right niche, two, using that ranking to make money in other ways.
