Greetings!
My name is Liz McGee (AKA Ms. Liz) and I’d like to welcome you to my Homenotion Blog.
Since this is my ‘about me‘ page I’ll start by saying that I’m the wife of a wonderful husband, Mom to two great kids, a loyal friend, avid walker, devout Christian and internet business owner for over ten years.
You probably don’t care much about any of that except the internet business part, which is exactly what this blog is about. In fact I started Homenotion as a way of documenting and sharing my journey with making money online.
My online business journey began in 2002 when I quit my day job to figure out how I could use the internet to start an online business and make an income.
Looking back on the event, it was probably one of the bravest things I’d ever done. It took a lot of courage to quit a paying job to start a business that I knew nothing about. But hanging on to a job I disliked, wasting my talents and seeing no future for myself made each day more and more difficult. Maybe you can relate. So I took the bold step of faith. I quit my job and never looked back.
Don’t ask me how I came up with the domain ‘Homenotion’. It was one of those brilliant (or so I thought) moments I’d rather forget
But both my site and blog have served me well and I’ve met so many great people because of it. Now it’s more of a sentimental name that I wouldn’t think of dropping.
Probably like you, I started out knowing very little about making money on the web or online marketing for that matter. Back when I started there wasn’t as much help as there is today. Whatever I learned, I learned by trial and error and I’m not afraid to say I made lots of mistakes in the process.
It’s been an interesting journey, but what I’ve learned through the process is that starting an online business and making it profitable IS a process and you have to embrace that process while also understanding that nothing happens overnight, and certainly those riches won’t simply fall in your lap. There’s a lot to learn and you have to apply what you learn.
If you’re just starting out I encourage you to honestly examine your talents, likes, dislikes, where you want to be in five years and what gets you out of bed in the morning. Then put a plan together that suits your lifestyle and your income goals.
From there, work your plan from start to profit. Never jump from idea to idea hoping for the next fastest, easiest thing. That’s the surest way to failure and has been the downfall of many an online business owner. You won’t find success that way.
I don’t have all the answers, but I know where to find them and who to listen to. What I do online, what I learn in the process and the ideas and strategies that help make me profitable are the things I share with you, my readers.
Whether you’re getting started online or you’ve had your online business awhile, leave me a note, I’d love to connect and share
Live, Learn and Profit my friend.
Blessings,

Hello Liz,
I really love to write especially about people and so happy knowing that I still can earn while enjoying writing articles about them. I think I really need your help on how to earn money while enjoying blogging .

Hello Ms Liz
I’d like to send your post on Blogs v websites to my two sons. It is the best I have read in clear, jargon free language.
Luke is 24, a strength and conditioning coach at a tennis academy in Southern Spain. He is assuming he needs a website to advertise his skills to a wider audience. I’m urging him to consider blogs too.
Mark is 34, lives in Denver, assistant manager in Old Navy, hates the job, has thoughts of qualifying as a personal trainer, is probably more knowledgable about blogs and website than Luke, is aware of his need to get away from the job culture, undecided how to do it, could benefit in my opinion from your crystal clear advice.
Me too. I’m 78 just starting to make money on the internet, love writing but a lazy blogger, posting once a month…
I like the way you think. I am happy to have found this website through Google. Thanks For Sharing ‘Meet Ms. Liz’.
Hey Erik, If she’s interested in starting an online business, have her create a blog around a favorite topic of hers. Here’s a post on how to create a WordPress blog that will help get her started.
As the blog begins to gain traffic she can monetize it with ads or associated affiliate products.
Ms. Liz,
I love your information and advice because it is very practical and realistic.
My wife is getting really burned out with her job recently and was considering doing something else that would help her regain her sanity and have time for our 3 kids. Is there any business you would recommend for someone who has never even considered starting a business before?
Thanks again for all your help and advice,
Erik
Hi Liz
You know what, one of my “special hobbies” online, when I visit a blog, is to read about the person behind that blog. I’m curious to know about them and their adventure up to date.
I see you as a veteran online marketer with almost 10 years of experience. I consider myself as a newbie to all these things. But I know the mistakes, the bad decisions and the failures that every beginners met.
I’m now focusing more on affiliate marketing and SEO as my main techniques. And I see you’re offering much useful information on that topic here. That’s why I will spend some times jogging around
I know I will find something here!
Best wishes for you and your biz Liz!
Hi Patricia, I highly recommend Michelle McPherson’s free guide ‘Social Media Daily Blueprint‘. The guide is free for your sign up but it’s a very good resource that offers a plan, steps to follow and a daily checklist. Let me know what you think
Hello Liz,
I am a life coach and I am looing for someone to teach me with a specific plan how to build my list.
Presently I am blogging on my site, started with e zine.com and in 2 weeks I will have a professional facebook profile, which for the moment I do not know how to use to promote my free book and attract clients to my site.
How can you help me? Is there any program you suggest for beginners on how to use blogging and social network to create rapport and therefore become visible?
Thanks,
Patricia
