If you're familar with reciprocal link exchange you know what a huge amount of time it takes to find sites, send emails, respond to emails, confirm links and so on. I've concluded this just isn't the best solution. Neither party is gaining any real content value which is precisely what the search engines are looking for and what my viewers deserve as well.
With all the work and the time involved and no real value offered, I decided to find a better way. I've found a much better link exchange alternative …
Instead of just exchanging links willy nilly with sites that don't really offer me or anyone else any real value, I'm offering my link exchange candidates the opportunity for each of us to exchange content.
The best thing about this method is I'm applying the SEO friendly techniques that have actually been around for a long time, so this really isn't anything new, but it's a much more creative way of obtaining content for your site while also getting your content on other sites, not to mention virtually eliminating the hassle and ineffectiveness of reciprocal linking.
Here's how you can do the same:
Create a 'link to us' page that invites your visitors to establish a link on your site by submitting an article or perhaps a product endorsement or testimonial about your website.
Be sure you make it clear that the content submitted must be related to the theme of your website. For example, if your site is about 'How to be better organized' then be clear that you will only accept content related to 'getting organized' and 'organizational skills'.
Below your text be sure to include your own links that your visitor can easily place on their website. You should also include a few of your best articles that they can use, don't forget your resource box. ![]()
It's also a good idea to create 2-3 separate html links whereby each one contains a different keyword phrase that accurately describes your site.
Here is an example of how to use an html link:
Learn how to <a href="http://www.yoursite.com/"> get organized </a> with organizational tips, ideas and time saving ideas that will help you be more productive each and every day.
The text in red is where your best keyword or keyword phrase should go.
Not only will this limit the amount of reciprocal link requests you get in your inbox each day, you will have a much better shot at obtaining quality links on relevant web sites …and so will your link partners. It's a win-win for you both.
