5 Reasons to Make Your Business Personal with a Blog

Blogging is the big internet craze these days. Whether for business or for personal reasons just about everyone has a blog, however owning a blog is especially beneficial if you are an internet business owner and there are plenty of good reasons why…

1. A blog is Personal and Promotes Sharing

A blog gives you a place to be yourself. While a traditional website is more about business and making the sale, your blog can have a less business feel to it while still allowing you to expand on what your website offers.

It's where you can share personal stories about your business ventures, successes you've had and lessons you've learned. These are the kinds of things that really allow you to establish relationships and get feedback from others.

Because blogs are a personal medium your readers will get a glimpse into who you really are because blog posts are designed to be candid, personal content that readers can enjoy and also be a part of.

2. A Blog can Save you Precious Time

One of the things I love most about blogs is that you can write posts ahead of time.  Got an idea, a thought or a personal gripe?  Jump on your blog and make a post.  You could write posts all day long and then schedule when each one is to appear.  Scheduling your workload saves you time allowing you more freedom to do other things.

You can even try asking business associates to guest blog for you on occasion. This gives readers a chance to hear from others who are experienced in your business niche.  This will save you from having to write all of the posts yourself, another big time saver.

3. A Blog Allows Feedback, Opinions and Comments

Customers can also give you feedback from your blog. Unless you hear from your customers and followers, how do you really know whether you are are giving them what they need? Instead pose questions, conduct surveys and ask for suggestions.  People are always happy to share their opinions and comments and a post on your blog is a great way to initiate that.

4. A Blog provides Plenty of Room for Monetization

Have a place on your blog to provide resources. Let’s say that a viewer wants to start an internet business or figure out what are some of the best methods for success.  Use your blog to post your own helpful links.

You can also optimize your blog with things like Google AdSense or affiliate products. While you are providing help for your readers, you are also creating a stream of passive income for your business.

5. A Blog is Ideal for Affiliate Marketing

We hear all the time that affiliate marketers who pre-sell are the most successful. That’s because pre-selling is about turning visitors into trusted business associates.  People more often than not buy from those they know and trust and if you don’t give others the chance to trust you, you're not likely to be as successful.

The benefits of personal sharing, candid comments and individual feedback that a blog provides are all elements that will help your visitors become comfortable with who you are.  A blog will also give you the chance to more than simply present a sales pitch to your visitors, it will give you the opportunity to better promote through candid sharing, comments and expert advice.

In Summary…

Using blogging software like Wordpress provides you with tons of free plug-ins and features that will enhance your blog. You can get up and running within a day or so and the cost to get started is literally only about $15.

Having a blog allows you to interact not only with followers and customers it's the perfect tool for marketing, promoting, conversing and saving you time. It's the ideal complement to your existing website but more importantly it's where people can come to get to know you.

  2. All true and to monetize a blog you best have a niche that you are an authority in and a unique product to sell as well. Selling ads on a blog is very difficult and with 10,000 bloggers per single paying advertiser..well, it’s not a good equation for creating a legit middle class business!
