Do Blogs Get Indexed Sooner?

According to my research, and I do a lot of it, hey it's part of my job Smile  I've been hearing about how blog users, particularly bloggers using Wordpress have a much better chance of getting indexed by Google a lot faster than with traditional website builders.

Is that true?

From my experience, I have to say this is true.  My traditional sites needed lots of links before they were indexed several months later, however when  I put up a blog it takes about 5 days, and sometimes less to get indexed, and I've had no time to establish links either.  Will it stay indexed?  Well, I'm going to make darn sure as I post just about every day, which I think is important to maintaining a healthy blog.  But the point is, I'm there and if nothing else, it gives me a little enthusiasm about continuing to keep it healthy.

On the other hand, there are the non believers who say Google is really focused on the numbers of incoming links to your site, or blog. The links are what weave you into the World Wide Web and without them, Google isn't likely to index your site, whether it's a blog or any kind of site.  For the most part I do think links are important but there's definitely something about blogs that the search engines favor.

But what I also found interesting is that several weeks ago I built a new web site with a product called BANS.  What was interesting is that site also got indexed in Google within about 6 days. I did spend a day or so accumulating a few links but I was completely amazed that only about 6 days later it had already been indexed in Google, but what was even better is the site has made several nice sales for me and it's only been live about 3 weeks and I've done no advertising whatsoever.

That's definitely better sales timing than I've ever had when building a new site with my other site builders.

So getting back to understanding why blogs get indexed so soon, my theory is the technology being used.  Blogs encourage updating daily, if you don't update your blog, it often gets updated for you with comments coming in.

As far as my BANS sites go, they pull from eBay products and eBay changes on a daily basis, products come in — products go out and as those products get updated, so does my site.

I think that if Google can see that your site is 'alive', so to speak, with changes on a daily basis, it will not only get indexed sooner, it will find favor with the search engines and you'll see more traffic.

What's your experience with blogs?  …any thoughts?
