It's not hard to create a blog. What's more, with a little focus anyone can learn how to create a blog that makes money and even have it up and running in just a few hours.
I encourage you to avoid getting caught up in reading, researching and analyzing. You've probably heard the phrase 'paralysis through analysis’. It's true, you can analyze yourself to the point of doing nothing.
Instead, simply follow the 'how to' steps below and you will have a blog that makes money and won't take you weeks for you to create.
Let’s get started…
Find a profitable niche. You don't want to make this harder than it needs to be. Get on Google type in an idea and see what's out there. If there are Google ads to the right, that's a good indication that it's a popular topic and people are buying. Don't be too broad in what you select, niche down as far as you can. For example, instead of broadly choosing skincare, select a finer skincare topic like Acne, or Rosacea or anti-aging.
To help you see what people want to know about and what keywords they're using use Wordtracker and type in your topic with these words:
how to
easy
create
prevent
fix
remedy
relief
instant
When thinking about your niche focus on topics and areas of interest where people spend their money as opposed to areas that people tend to look for free information. For example, sports is a great example where people love to spend their money, on the other hand people aren't as driven to spend money on cooking recipes as there are so many free recipes available already.

Hi Ms Liz.
I have a website, but I am not a real blogger, because blogging seem to be more time sensitive, and needs a lot more posting. Do you think a blog in better that a website? I have been at this for 15 months and my site has 75 pages, but I make very little money. I have been thinking maybe a blog would be better, but I do not think I would have the passion to write everyday.
Hey Melva, a blog simply adds more interaction, which is good, but you need is to bring to the table more of your own personal experience. What things have you learned about being online? What products do you use that you could comment on or review? Give your readers information they can use.
For example, we often provide good reasons for starting a web business or why someone should create a blog or why certain products are better than others but readers don’t need justification for doing things, they need to know how to do things. They want to know the pitfalls or how much effort it’s going to take or actually what they need to do to get started. Be specific, show examples, give ideas.
Also, I’d suggest building an opt-in list. This will take some up front work but once created it will simply run on autopilot. Start by creating a free guide of some sort and offering it as a free bonus for signing up. Then create a list of emails that go out each week automatically. In those emails provide good quality personal information that readers can use to get a business going, also invite questions and comments.
To create your own free guide, don’t be afraid to use Private label rights (PLR) content but don’t use it out of the box. Customize it with your own voice and information. Hope that helps
Thanks for sharing this one. Very informative, especially since I am planning to start up an online business about weddings. Thanks for the heads up on Google Adsense and Wordpress as well.
Hey, great blog topic and well written! I think if I was able to give just one tip I’d say to stick with it. There are lots of ways to make money online and they really arent that hard to have success at…all you need is a bit of stickability and youll find you start making some money quickly…
Great advice! Patience and persistence has to be part of your motto. If you can stick with it and follow the money making strategies you’ll be successful. Just don’t be tempted to jump from one thing to another, that’s often a bloggers downfall. Stay with your project until it is profitable before moving on.
Very good post! Something else to consider is starting off with an aged domain. This may cost you $100-200, this will get your blog ranked faster with Google. Host it with a good hosting company and not on a resellers account because Google will know it has the same IP address as your other sites. Some may say that that’s too much! but it’s not…It will pay off quick especially if you have a good niche!
