Looks like MIVA Media was acquired by the ad network, 'Adknowledge'.
Miva is a pay-per-click advertising center similar to Google Adwords and Yahoo's Search Marketing.
I've never been a fan of Miva so I'm hoping this acquisition will improve their services. The last time I used Miva was about a year ago and I have to say they never brought me much traffic. I also found them incredibly slow and difficult to use. At one point they also suckered me out of $60 within about 48 hours with no traffic to show for it.
The main reason this happened was that their system was so slow I could hardly get it to respond, secondly, their 'set up' wasn't easy to figure out and consequently I wasn't using the system the correct way.
Anyway to make a long story short I was out $60, but that wasn't the biggest problem for me. When I attempted to address it with their customer service, they simply gave me one constant 'canned answer' and went on to ignore any additional questions that I had from then on. There was no credit, no attempt to tell me what I had done wrong or how they could help me in the future – nothing!
OK, so they got my $60, but they lost me as a customer.
But I'm not the only one that has bad experiences…

So what does this acquisition mean for MIVA?
Initially they are saying that there will be no change in the way that you plan and manage your MIVA ad campaigns. You will continue to be able to utilize the MIVA Ad Center and your accounts won't be affected. But it looks at though over time the two company platforms will be combined. My hope is that they come up with an interface that is easier to use and that they offer better customer service by adopting more customer centric policies.
The positive thing about acquisitions such as this is that things do tend to improve, so if you're thinking about using an alternative to Google Adwords or Yahoo! this might be the time to try Miva out. For me, however, it's going to take heavy convincing before I attempt their services again.
Anyone else have any comments about their experiences with MIVA?
