11 Quirky Things About Me ;-)

by Ms. Liz on February 15, 2011

One of my favorite hangouts is the Clicknewz forum, and this past week  one of our elite members, Missy at G34media, thought it would be fun to kick off  ‘Quirky Things about Me’ blog posts.

I can be just as quirky as the next guy, in fact I came up with 11 things, here they are …  :-)

1. I can watch a favorite movie over and over and over and never get tired of it.

2. I salt everything, I even put salt in my coffee grounds before brewing.

3. I hate my name, I even hate the sound of it, weird.

4. I don’t like to drink water, it’s my least favorite thing to drink.

5. I love thunderstorms and miss them terribly since being in southern California where it hardly ever rains.

6. I agonize over choosing WordPress themes.  I can never make up my mind, no matter how hard I try.  It’s exhausting.

7.  I don’t like to talk on the phone. I’d rather write a letter.

8. I don’t have a creative bone in my body, but my kids are art and music majors …and they’re good!  Go figure.

9. I love breezy afternoons laying in my hammock listening to the breeze rustle through the trees.

10. I love Italy and their philosophy of enjoying life, food and wine in the moment. I try to do more of that in my own life.

11.  I’ll think of someone’s birthday several days in advance and buy them a great card, then I’ll forget to send it.  I  do that just about every time, no one ever expects a birthday card from me on their birthday :-(

How about you, any quirks to share?

Salt in coffee grounds? That’s one I’ve never ever heard of before. We are a quirky bunch indeed. lol. This meme has really opened us up to all our wonderful wackiness. Gotta love it.

Cheers,
Missy

p.s. It’s great that you participated.

Hey Missy, Salt in the coffee grounds takes out some of the bitterness. Does it really? Not sure, it’s just habit now ;-) Thanks for your feedback.

Hey Liz,

Interesting read! This helped me to get to know you a little bit better :)

You know what, I hate my name too :(

Thanks for sharing this.

All the best,
Mavis

Hey Mavis, Actually I think your name has kind of ring to it. I guess we all have our own quirks. What’s in a name anyway? :-)

Salt in coffee grounds I have never heard of, interesting.

Wish we had a hammock, we love spending time in them in Jamaica but don’t have one at home.

I gave up sending b-day cards a long long time ago LOL

This has been fun. I linked to my quirks above.

Ms. Liz February 16, 2011 at 10:06 am

Hey Angie, I think I should give up on the B-Day card thing too. Just too many to keep track of. Yes, this has been fun.

Salt in coffee grounds? What would happen if you put sugar in your coffee grounds..

NO it would just melt I think. :-)

Ms. Liz February 16, 2011 at 2:27 pm

Hi Satu, the salt is suppose to take the bitterness out, so I don’t add much and it doesn’t make the coffee taste salty. Sugar would melt into the water and make your coffee sweet I would think, depends on how much you add. Will have to try it ;-)

Hey Ms.Liz

Your number 6 isn’t quirky. I know of a few people including myself that are indecisive when it comes to picking wordpress themes. And I think I have the same quirk as you because I salt everything too. Thanks for sharing your quirks.

Ms. Liz February 17, 2011 at 8:53 am

Hey John, I guess quirky is relevant. Most people I know don’t have such indecisive problems and I get complaints all the time that I use too much salt. Oh well, one person’s quirk my be another’s normalcy, funny how we all are :-)

I like your name Liz.. I’m sure you’ve thought of this many times, so what would you re-name yourself?

My favorite movie is The Color Purple and I cry and laugh EVERYTIME I see it and I’ve seen it at least 50 times. Next showing, tonight on WE channel.

I lived in the south for 20 years and NEVER put salt on my grits, I prefer sugar. I got a lot of raised eyebrows on that one but that’s how I like it! Although I’ve never been to Italy, I would like to live there and travel from North to South taking cooking classes, drinking wine and absorbing the culture.

I can’t stand to have toilet seats left up and I’m methodical as to how I pack my dishwasher. How’s that for quirky? This made me chuckle :-)

Have an awesome day!

Golda

Hey Golda, LOL! You’ve made me chuckle as well :-)

I love your list Liz… I had to laugh when you said you hated drinking water – I do too! But I try to force it down everyday. Have you tried putting lemon or something like that to make it taste better? :-)

Ms. Liz February 25, 2011 at 11:02 am

Hi Natalie,

I’ve tried lemon and flavorings and it does help but it’s still my least favorite thing to drink. I’m like you, I have to force myself ;-)

Liz I loved this. I am jealous you only have 11 quirks. I could break mine down into a months worth of posts and do 11 per day.

I have to be honest though and admit I did know about the salt in the coffee grounds. I learned it from an old Night auditor who used to work in a hotel I worked at. He would always make the first pot of coffee for the day and told me about the salt trick.

I laughed at some of your others. I am the same with water, but I force it daily. It really sharpens the brain and cleans you out. at about 2pm each afternoon, picture me drinking about a litre. It perks me up for the rest of the day!

Loved this… It has made me add it to my list of ideas for future similar posts.

thanks

Jayne

Hi Liz,
I think I have the same problem like you with number 4 “I don’t like to drink water”. My wife said I should have less drink and more water. I started putting a little apple cider vinegar in water which makes it easier to drink. May be quirky but it works. I found out it helps with my body alkalinity level, which is good.

Just to let you know, I like you name “Liz”.

All the best,
rik
